Ray "Bubba"Sorensen recently completed the momentous task of painting a Freedom Rock in each of Iowa's 99 counties. But his work is not done! He always gives the original Adair County rock a new look each year. I usually go the weekend before Memorial Day and watch the artist at work. I was there May 27 and here is Ray "Bubba" standing by his almost completed 2022 edition. This year is Bubba's 24th annual repaint of the Adair County Freedom Rock and I think his best yet! The President Reagan quote above the art work tells the story. The flag draped coffin is being lifted up by various branches of the military. Then a soldier looking us in the eye is handing us a folded American flag. This flag symbolizes us receiving the folded flag. In so doing, we are accepting the responsibility of upholding America for all who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. God Bless America!
