HANG YOUR HAT

SEPTEMBER--2022

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (ESV) (Ephesians 6: 17)

My View for the Month: There is an old saying "Home is where you hang your hat!" Well, I have many hats and I hang them in the rafters of my home tool room. Farm people called these "seed corn hats" and that is why I have them. Many were given to me by seed and feed dealers back in my farming days--during the 50's. Others were given to me by friends and family who knew I collected them. I still have each and every one of them after all of these years. I have not kept them because they are valuable. I keep them because they are sentimental. They remind me of what is so good about Iowa agriculture and Iowa people. Yet--it goes beyond that segment of my Iowa life when I was farming in the fifties. Just a few weeks ago, I received an addition to my hat collection. A friend gave me this new John Deere hat (right). But, home is not where I'm going to hang this hat! I am going to wear it as a proud tribute to Iowa agriculture.
