Have you had your walk today? If not--don't fret! You don't even need your walking shoes. Just scroll down and come with me. I will take you on a 2 mile hike on the Kruidenier Trail around Gray's Lake In Des Moines, Iowa. You may not get your heart rate up, but the beauty of the place might take your breath away.

My View for the Month: Today (August 16, 2022) I walked around

Gray's Lake. Most of you already know this landscape so I am not going to tell you a picture story--I am going to tell you a people story. I made three new friends today. I have marked these photos 1, 2 and 3. Here we go! (1) I was walking down the trail and I dropped my cane down the bank when I was reaching for my water bottle. This nice lady was walking her dog. She saw my dilemma, retrieved my cane and we parted with a smile. (2) Soon I met this fisherman. He was proud to show me his catch for the day. He was pleased when I asked to take his photo for my blog. I wish I could send it to him, but I don't have his name. Nevertheless, we had a nice visit, exchanged a couple of fish stories and we parted with a smile. (3) We are now on the north side of the trail. I was getting ready to take a photo of the new bridge where two ladies were walking down the ramp. One lady said, "We will hurry and get out of the way". I told her I would be pleased to have her in my pic. Guess what! She made an abrupt turn around and came back down the ramp again so I could include her in this photo. You know the rest of the story--we parted with a smile. That's the way it is in Iowa. Even when you think you are alone, you are never without friends. I will probably never see any of these nice people again, but I think we all helped make each other's day a little brighter--and we parted with a smile. That's why I call this a PEOPLE STORY.
