BEAVER CROSSING
A couple months ago, I shared the story about a new trail bridge over Oralabor Road in Ankeny. Well, this is another day and another bridge. This new bridge is on the recreation trail immediately north of I-80/I-35 in Johnston. I had ridden my bike over the old structure, crossing Beaver Creek, many times. It was a sad day when the old bridge totally collapsed from high water and an ice jam in 2019. Now today, September 15, 2022 was a good day. This beautiful new bridge, named Beaver Crossing, officially opened for bikers, runners, walkers, skate borders and other outdoor enthusiasts.
My View for the Month: I have been a runner, walker and bicycle rider for many years. Therefore, I have been a great proponent of active participating sports. I am thankful Iowa has so many opportunities for fun and games with friends--or alone. We have a really great network of recreational trails in Central Iowa and around the state. Iowa also has an abundance of golf courses, tennis courts, public parks and so many other places to get out and "just do it."
