This train isn't actually in the station! But this N scale model train collection, sponsored by DesmoiNTRAK Model Railroad Club, was in the West Des Moines Library last month for a special two day visit. Hop aboard!

RETURN TO HOMEPAGE>>>>>>>
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (ESV) (Lamentations 3: 22,23)
I am thankful for the "desmoiNTRAK" folks who spent so much time and effort to share this amazing N-scale model railroad collection with us. This display pretty much filled the whole room, but the picture-stories they tell go way beyond these walls. I loved the journey through the warehouse, retail and industrial areas of Des Moines in days past. But, I am a farm boy, so I am glad the conductor took me aboard for a ride through the beautiful rural area served (then and now) by our great American railroad system. I really don't know much about railroad history, but I know of someone who does. The photo above reminded me of a great book by Stephen E. Ambrose, "Nothing Like it in the World". It is a story about the men who built the transcontinental railroad (1863-1869). The Golden Spike, marking the completion of the project, ushered in a new era of travel and transportation in America. This model train display at the WDM Library was a learning experience for me. I'm glad the train was "N".
