MILESTONE ONE; The Heritage Carousel in Union Park celebrates a big 25 year Milestone this year. It wasn't in business when our kids were growing up so I've never had "an excuse " to ride a Heritage horse--or giraffe. But I'm not going to let you off the hook that easy--I still have a story here. Back in the Camp Vera days, Lisa and Marge sometimes planned a picnic in the park after swimming lessons at Birdland Pool. The Liberian kids especially liked the merry go round, But, I think we supervising adults had even more pleasure watching those smiling faces.
Everyone must submit himself to governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. (NIV) (Romans 13: 1).
MILESTONE TWO: A 20 year milestone! Des Moines Mayor, Frank Cownie, will not seek re-election when he completes his term this year. I think he deserves special recognition for a job well done. I live in Urbandale but I think his leadership has a positive spill over affect that has made life better for the entire Greater Des Moines area.
