The IOWA STATE FAIR is always a huge event that attracts people from all over the world. This year, 1,333,958 people walked through the gates, which equates to the 2nd largest attendance in history. I'm glad I was one of them!

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (ESV) (Lamentations 3:22,23)

I like to support the Iowa farmer so I usually have my lunch at the Iowa Pork Producers Tent. This year the tent has been replaced by this beautiful fully enclosed new building. I just wasn't up to standing in that line so I opted for some "real" fair food--a corn dog on a stick.

After many years attending the Iowa State Fair, I thought I had seen everything. But today when I rode the skylift to the top of the hill, I discovered a place I had never been--the Ralph H. Deets Historical Museum. There is a lot of fair history here, such as these posters from the past.

My View for the Month: I think the Iowa State Fair is a wonderful tribute to Iowa agriculture and the whole state.

The farm animal barns are often my first stop. This year. the super bull, Mean Gene, weighed in at 3060 pounds. The big boar, Sasquatch, hit the scale at 1.012 pounds.

The butter cow is always a big hit. This year, Jack Trice, Kurt Warner and Caitlin Clark were great guests. Every Iowan loves them all.
