This has been a beautiful fall in Iowa. I want to share with you some of the things I have enjoyed in October--AS THE LEAVES TURN.

Today, October 05, 2020, I "helped" Kenton Brown with corn harvest. Well--actually I rode in the jump seat for a couple of rounds. The yield was surprisingly good in spite of the challenging weather this year.

Everything on this page is close to our home. In fact, the scene on the right is our neighbors trees as seen from our back yard. This has been a good October  to be in Iowa--AS THE LEAVES TURN.

October 01, 2020.

Headlines: "Casey's New Logo." Is this breaking news?-It is for me -maybe even breaks my heart. There is a lot of nostalgia in that 50 year old barn shaped logo describing this iconic business as "Casey's General Store." I consider this Ankeny based convenience store to be the "anchor" for many Iowa small towns. But let's put the record straight --I think the marketing experts know more than I do. I will have to admit this clean lined Casey's logo is sure to be accepted and appealing to the younger generation. As for me--when I go to the farm--I'm still going to stop at Casey's ("GENERAL STORE") to put gas in my truck. I will also pick up a few of my faves--a pork tenderloin, pizza and a Casey's cake donut.

October 16, 2020. The much hyped Flyover Bridge at the Urbandale Urban Loop opened today. It is just a few miles from our home.This $65 million project will encourage new  development in the area. Most of all, it will hopefully be a cure-all for the "traffic headaches" at the difficult to negoiate Ryder Corner. Traffic will move more smoothly, thus decreasing accidents and saving lives. That's what makes it a good investment!
