PAINT ON THE WALL

MARCH--2021

RETURN TO HOMEPAGE>>>>

The above scene looks like it could be the deep south a century ago--but guess where I found it. This wall mural is painted on a business building on East Main Street in Sac City, Iowa. Carl Homstad painted this in 2007 as a tribute to the city's Chautauqa Building. This is not a pano photo! I had to cheat on this one--I found several pics in my digital photo album from several years back. I pieced them together the best I could and I still had one art panel that wouldn't fit. That was an easy fix--I still wanted you to see it so I pinned it here. (Right) >>>

The above story is just a lead-in for pics below. I, probably like you, have logged up a lot of indoor hours this winter. Then when I ran across the old pics (above), I decided I needed a socially distancing outdoor adventure. I am very predictable--so you can probably guess where we are going. Yes, outdoors!!!

This month I am featuring what I have titled, "PAINT ON THE WALL" (art murals on buildings in the Des Moines area.) This was a good way for me to spend a couple afternoons. It was an easy fix for my desire to get out of the house on cold winter days. In this report, I just listed addresses without additional comments or details. I am sure many of these are more than just "pretty pictures" -- they also tell a story. However, I'm not going to go there! So here was my game plan--I stopped at each art mural--looked--smiled--and moved on! After all--it's just "PAINT ON THE WALL."

Because they lead my people astray, saying, "Peace," when there is no peace and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash, therefore tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents and I will send hailstones down, and violent winds will burst forth. When the wall collapses, will people not ask you, "Where is the whitewash you covered it with?" (NIV) (Ezekiel 13: 10-12)
