SECOND CHANCE

In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (NIV) (John 14: 2,3)

I like to take you places where you may not have been. I think most of you are one-up on me this time. I have been in town since 1961 and this was my first time inside Hoyt Sherman Place. This beautiful mansion was built in 1877 as a family home constructed by early Des Moines settler, Hoyt Sherman. It is now owned by the Hoyt Sherman Foundation (founded by the Des Moines Women's Club.) It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Now I know why Hoyt Sherman Place is the anchor point for the Sherman Hill Neighborhood.
