As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? (NIV) (2 Samuel 22: 31,32)

MEMORIAL DAY---May 27, 2019. We are all looking forward to kicking off summer activities by enjoying this long weekend  holiday with our family and friends to do some fun things we have been looking forward to after this long-cold Iowa winter. All true, but there is more--here is what Wikipedia has to say: "Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States honoring those who have died while serving in the Unites States Armed Services." That is exactly the goal of Iowa mural artist Ray "Bubba" Sorenson. It is his goal to honor these men and women by painting a Freedom Rock somewhere in each of Iowa's 99 counties. Here are a few examples.

Decator County--Leon

Marion County--Knoxville

Appanoose County--Centerville

Wayne County--Corydon

O say can you see, by the dawn's early light,

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,

Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;

O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
