My View for the Month: July 23, 2019--Joshua got a new red bike today. I have had a lot of new bikes in my lifetime. I know a new bike is always a big deal. However, I don't think my excitement could even be compared to seeing Joshua's excitement when his new bicycle arrived today. This is a very special bike designed to meet Joshua's needs. There is a recreation trail adjacent to his back yard so he and his mom or an adult friend will soon be hitting the road. There is more to the story. This specially designed bike is not a toy and certainly not cheap. His "allowance" would just not do the job. His new bike was made possible by the very generous contributions of friends, relatives and some people he didn't even know. That doesn't surprise me--that's just the way it is in Iowa. Don't be surprised if you meet Joshua on the trail one of these days. You can be sure--he will wave and smile. That is more than just a casual hello--he means, "Thank you for-- THE NEW RED BIKE--I love you."
