"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

This picture was taken just a few days ago, but it reminds me of the past when I was a kid growing up in Western Iowa. Every year on (or in the proximity of) July 4th we had a family reunion at Copeland Park in Correctionville. This place had everything, including picnic grounds, the Little Sioux River and a swimming pool. Most of all, it was the annual gathering place for our family reunion. All of the people brought their best food and sometimes their best friends--everyone was welcome. Those days are way past and I probably hadn't been to a family reunion in 70 years. You can imagine my excitement when I was invited to the Fitchner-Vaughn family reunion at the Raccoon River Park on June 22, 2019. I had not seen many of these family members for years and some I had never seen. Nevertheless, it was a replica of family gatherings of my youth and I will put this day in my memory bank.

JULY 4TH-2019

But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and righteousness to children's children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments. The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all. (ESV) (Psalm 103: 17-19)
