VIEWS OF A FARM BOY

"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (ESV) (MATTHEW 22: 36-39)

NOT A CIRCUS

Above: A photo of the comic strip, "The Family Circus" as it appeared in the Des Moines Register March 01, 2020. This is a milestone event! This day marks the beginning of the 60th year this beloved family has been welcomed to our home. It was written by cartoonist Bil Keane until 2011 when it was turned over to his son, Jeff. I think this special milestone edition of Family Circus reminds us of the importance of family life then, now, and continuing for centuries to come. One more thing--when we pick up the comic strips we like to get a laugh but we also must keep things in proper perspective. Family life is NOT A CIRCUS--it's a celebration!

My View for the Month; I thought this 60th anniversary edition of Family Circus came at an appropriate time. I fully realize these are difficult days, but I try to keep my "Views of a Farmboy" positive and encouraging. I am thankful that so many people are using this "more days at home" situation to spend quality time with family. I am also thankful for the digital and electronic devices that keep us close to our family and friends around the world, as we "Love our neighbor as ourself" (with your neighbor being anyone who isn't you).
