.We have a long time friend that died recently at age 105. He spent his final few weeks at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. Visiting him is how we discovered this newly painted rock in the hospital parking lot. Credit for this work of art goes to Ray "Bubba" Sorensen. Ray has painted a Freedom Rock in each of Iowa's 99 counties. Every one is a tribute to the men and women (veterans) who have served our country in the military forces. I think this rock is special because of it's location at the Veterans Hospital. It is also special because it gives me an opportunity to recognize a national holiday I have not covered on my blog before--November 11 is VETERANS DAY.
