VIEWS OF A FARM BOY

You may have heard me say this before, but the Iowa State Capitol complex is one of my favorite places in the whole world. One day each year I take my lunch, eat it on a bench overlooking beautiful downtown Des Moines, then stroll the grounds and enjoy the day.  But things are going to be different for awhile. The beautiful 12 karat dome is now covered with scaffolding to accommodate interior repairs. This process may take up to two years. So before this all happened, I stocked up on pics and thought I should share them with you.

IOWA STATE CAPITOL DOME

RETURN TO HOMEPAGE >>>>>>>>>

Now here we are today with men hard at work to repair and restore. As much as I enjoy seeing this beautiful gold dome, I am happy this building is being maintained for future generations.

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. (NIV) (Romans 13:1)

This concludes my tribute to the Iowa State Capitol. I would like to give thanks to the elected officials, appointed officials and the entire staff that serve our great state of Iowa.
