VIEWS OF A FARM BOY

"IOWA # 1" Yea--I told you so! If you have been reading my monthly blog, Views of a Farm Boy, I have been shouting praises for the great state of Iowa for many years. Now, a national research study backed up my beliefs. February 27, 2018:  U.S. News and World Report listed Iowa as Number 1 in its Best States ranking. This was a multi-category report that included health care, education, economy, opportunity, infrastructure, crime, fiscal stability, and quality of life. Our first ever female governor, Kim Reynolds, appeared on CBS This Morning to acknowledge this special designation with these words: "What an honor it is to recognize Iowans that are making a difference in communities every single day all across our state." She continued: "And Iowa truly is a place where if you work hard, dream big, anything is possible." Now-- didn't I tell you???

The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it; the world and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.  (NIV) (Psalm 24:1,2).

IOWA NUMBER ONE

IOWA # 1--U.S. News and World Report--February 27, 2018

My view for the month: The pictures above represent just a few reasons I think Iowa is so great. This was a very complimentary report from U.S. News and World Report, but I think there are many more reasons Iowa is such a good place to live. I will name just a few: a strong farming community that provides food and other agriculture products to so many people around the world, thousands of miles of good roads that are not over burdened with traffic, some great colleges and universities, clean air, good public parks and other "play" opportunities, including a really great network of bike/recreation trails. The list just goes on and on. Of course, I live in Iowa and you who live in other states can plead your case as to why your state is the best place to live--and that's a good thing.
