FEED THESE ONES--they're for real

Today I took a ride to the Amimal Rescue League at 5452 NE 22nd St., Ankeny, Iowa. I have seen a lot of the "residents" on tv, but I had never been there. It is a beautiful building staffed with lots of nice people who lovingly care for a lot of nice animals.

I grew up on an Iowa farm in the 30's and 40's where cats and dogs were part of the work team. Our dogs went with me and my pony to round up the cattle and they protected the other animals from preditors. We had lots of cats--they caught rodents that threatened our stored grain. All slept in the barn or out buildings. I did this page neither to encourage nor discourage the adaption of animals. A pet is a big responsibility and every family (or person) has to decide what is right for them.
