Views of a Farm Boy--Dedicated to promote Iowa agriculture and Iowa values--Robert Vaughn--Urbandale, Iowa EMAIL: vaughnrobert@me.com
I'm sure most of you who live in the greater Des Moines area have been to the Downtown Farmers Market many times. So have I! But you also know I never pass up the opportunity to recognize a milestone. That is why this year marking 50 SEASONS is so special to me. It brought back so many good memories of days past. It also gives me an opportunity to show my appreciation for all of the people involved that have made this special weekly event possible. I grew up on a farm in the hill country of western Iowa. The country was just coming out of the great depression and my parents worked long hours just to feed our family. I think these small plot garden farmers have this same work ethic and the same love for the land. From the get-go my Views of a Farm Boy has been dedicated to "Iowa agriculture and Iowa values". I think the Des Moines Downtown Farmers Market is a perfect fit for that logo. I am confident these great people will hang on to their Iowa values. This will translate into quality and nutritious local food and wholesome entertainment for 50 SEASONS to come.
Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons. (NIV) (Acts 14: 17a)
I know--it is hard to believe--but this year marks 50 SEASONS for the Downtown Des Moines Farmers Market. I hope you made it for the food and fun. If not, just scroll down and you can enjoy this milestone occasion with me.
