OCTOBER-2017

     ELEVEN DAYS OF LOVE

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will find favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. (NIV) (Proverbs 3: 3,4)

RETURN TO HOMEPAGE>>>>>

My view for the month: Kids with cancer need compassion and companionship. Ronald McDonald House, right in the shadow of Blank Children's Hospital, has been a comfort and relief factor for parents and families of cancer kids (and other health conditions) for many years. Now the problem arises.  This facility was badly in need of repair and did not offer amenities to adquately serve their guests--now that's all history. Hubbell Reality and many others stepped up and look what happened! (above) I was here today, September 18, 2017, to see the finishing touches being put on a new replacement building. Construction began September 11, 2017--count it--that is 11 days. Now you know why this ambitious undertaking was called "extreme build". This building wasn't thrown together--it was constructed by professional builders assisted by many hundreds of people. They worked day and night to make this happen. What's more--it was  all volunteer labor. These people had such a huge positive impact on the lives of so many people. What a blessing for families of children being treated at Blank Children's Hospital. This new 18 room Ronald McDonald House will continue to provide their services at little or no cost. Many families live a long distance away and need a place to stay for several nights--almost like a home away from home. This new building will accomodate many more guests resulting in opportunities for love and support for each other. I have noticed that construction of buildings this size often takes months to build--and this one was done in 11 days.   Yes, they called it "extreme build", but I would call it "extreme love and compassion."  Have I ever told you?--I love Iowa and Iowan's values!!!!!!
