Views of a Farm Boy--Dedicated to promote Iowa agriculture and Iowa values--Robert Vaughn--Urbandale, Iowa EMAIL: vaughnrobert@me.com
Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (KJV) (I Thessalonians 5; 16-18)
Throughout the years I have taken you on many adventures in Downtown Des Moines. Many of these posts have included wall murals and special art work in our beautiful metropolitan area. So how could I miss the opportunity to share with you two beautiful and unique wall murals in Downtown Des Moines!

Above: Are you puzzled? Here are a few pieces of a jigsaw puzzle I made--just to get your attention.
Below: Actually this was a paint by numbers project. About 300 people (each painting his or her own segment) joined artist Claire Sedovic to create this massive indoors wall mural. That explains why I chose to introduce it with the multi piece puzzle analogy. I consider this a "must see" for anyone living iin the greater Des Moines area. It is located in the skywalk at 700 Locust.

Above: This new wall mural called Nature's Algorithm is located on the Principal Group Parking Garage at 801 Grand in Downtown Des Moines. Above:Dutch artist Leon Keer busy at work. Below: the finished product.
Artist Leon Keer utilizes AR (augmented reality) technology to bring us this unique piece of art. (Example: The television (above-left) looks 3D but actually it is flat-dab against the wall. This massive mural somehow is capable of distorting two dimensional image to 3D when viewed from certain angles. Here is my favorite part of the story. Leon chose actual Iowa places to feature on his interpretation of vintage television screens. I'm not sure I am quite ready for this--an app is available to augment the reality feature. Nevertheless, here is my conclusion: "This is an amazing piece of art--what a compliment to our community and all of Iowa!"
